If you can visit Cave Creek, AZ, and find your way to Spur Crossing, park at the entrance to Jewel of The Creek, across from the horse ranch, because...the enchanting Dragonfly Trail is magical. It has everything, including an abandoned mine, water, sun-baked rocks, dappled vistas, dragonflies of course, birds, shady clearings, magnificent saguaros, and the prettiest cottonwoods, together with the always surprising colors of the more diminutive Sonoran desert flora. This little painting was created one January day when I packed in my paints and got the afternoon light on the cottonwoods. I can't wait to go back. Acrylic on a canvas board, in colours of so many greens, grays, brown, straws, golds, yellows & that cerulean sky blue, just 5" x 7" so it will fit in any little space you might want, to help you get away, without going away.
