Pink Sunset at Lynx Lake

This new painting was created in the diminutive size as a challenge,  only 2 1/8" by 3 1/8", for a special vintage frame, which the collector of this painting may choose or change.  On a summer weekday while escaping the heat of the Sonoran desert in Phoenix, Lynx Lake, in a pine forest east of Prescott, Arizona, is a charming 55-acre reservoir located within Prescott National Forest, in the Bradshaw Mountains. The lake is located at 5,530 feet elevation and is stocked for fishing so you see plenty of shoreside fisherpersons trying their leisurely luck, including some fly casters and a few picnicking families.  It's a somewhat steep hike down to the lake from the campground, but the trail encircling the lake feels ancient and is bordered with a beautiful forest, full of wildflowers, birds and butterflies, and it feels very much like there should be bears.  A variety of Cormorants (aka "Water Turkeys") can be observed fishing there too, or resting in the defoliated trees at the water's edge.  The light was changing quickly but the pink sky and pink water, contrasted with the dark green of the ponderosa pines was an irresistible combination. Acrylics on canvas wrapped on archival stock. Finished as framed 4.75" x 5.75" vintage warm gold wood frame, black velvet easel back to perch on a bookshelf, side table, dresser or desk.
